Introduction:
Looking for a bas cabinet that can produce an enormous sound level? Good chance the Punisher horn is what you are looking for. With dimensions of H70cm x B50cm x D81.5cm and a weight of circa 48kg (unfinished) the cabinet is really compact and light. In contrast to most other horn loaded cabinets the Punisher horn can work well with only one cabinet per side. This set up achieves an ideal for small PA jobs. If higher sound levels are required a stack of 2 - 3 - 4 can produce over 140dB at 1 meter (> 4kW).

Loudspeakers:
The Punisher horn was specifically designed for the Ciare 12.00SW. Due his weight of 11kg - a capability of 1000W AES power and a linear Xmax of 11.5mm, this loudspeaker is a beast!

Construction:
Most subwoofers are equipped with a 15" or 18" loudspeaker to handle the job. It is a hardly surprising when people have doubts or a 12" loudspeaker is capable to produce enough low frequencies and SPL. Well, the Punisher is a horn loaded subwoofer which means that sound is beamed through a horn. The horn length determines the low cut off point. The start area of the horn is in connection with the driver area. The cone area of a 12" loudspeaker is smaller than the cone of a 15" loudspeaker (531cm2 vs 855cm2). The start area of a 12" horn can start smaller with the advantage that a longer horn can be folded in a particular cabinet. An another advantage is the smaller volume which is necessary as rear chamber.

Performance:
As from 50Hz sound levels of 130dB are possible in open air (circa 1000W). To mount the driver inside the cabinet it is necessary to make removable (service) panels. After all, all 8 screw bolts should be screwed tightly. It is recommend to use some kind of weather strips to prevent breeze at the panels. Also it is really important to get the rear chamber airtight. To achieve this use glue with a high filler value.

Mind:
Actually the Punisher is designed for the Ciare 12.00 SW model 2004. This model is not available anymore. The new model is called model 2005 for clarity. The total depth of this new model is changed to 14cm. The drawings underneath have been adjusted to fit model 2005.
